Experience. Understanding.
A Way Forward.
For more than 30 years, I've had the privilege of supporting men through some of the most challenging periods of their lives.
Whether you're struggling with anxiety, burnout, depression, relationship difficulties, divorce, anger, grief, or simply feeling stuck, my goal is to provide a space where you can speak openly, feel understood, and begin moving forward.

Hi, I'm Gerard
I'm a Registered Psychologist with more than 30 years of experience providing counselling to men.
Throughout my career, I've worked with men from all walks of life—fathers, partners, tradesmen, professionals, business owners, emergency service personnel, senior executives and elite athletes.
While every person's circumstances are different, I've found that many men carry similar burdens.
They feel pressure to stay strong.
To keep providing.
To solve problems on their own.
To keep moving, even when they're exhausted.
Many tell me they don't know who they can talk to without feeling judged.
That's where counselling can make a real difference.
I've learned that behind every problem is a person who simply wants life to feel manageable again.

Experience Beyond Qualifications
Professional training has given me the knowledge and skills to help people navigate difficult times.
Life has given me perspective.
Like many of the men I work with, I've experienced significant life transitions and personal loss.
I've experienced the grief of losing both of my parents.
I've been through divorce.
I've navigated the challenges of raising two children as a single father.
These experiences don't replace professional training, nor do they mean I understand every person's journey.
What they have given me is a deeper appreciation of how complex life can be—and how much courage it takes to ask for help.
I believe the most effective counselling combines professional expertise with genuine empathy, respect and understanding.
My Approach
I don't believe counselling should feel like being analysed.
Nor should it feel like someone telling you how to live your life.
My role is to work alongside you.
Together we'll understand what's happening, identify what's keeping you stuck, and develop practical strategies that help you move forward.
My approach is grounded in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)—one of the most well-researched and effective psychological approaches for helping people manage anxiety, depression, stress, anger and many other life challenges.
CBT focuses on understanding how your thoughts, emotions and behaviours influence one another. By recognising unhelpful patterns and developing practical new ways of responding, many people find they feel more confident, resilient and in control of their lives.
Rather than simply talking about problems, we'll work together to develop practical skills and strategies that you can continue using long after counselling has finished.
Every session is tailored to you.
No scripts.
No judgement.
No one-size-fits-all approach.
Just honest conversations focused on helping you build a life that feels calmer, healthier and more meaningful.
